Our porous borders are both an economic problem and a security problem. States like California are Arizona feeling the massive economic blow of illegal immigration, but it affects every state and the federal government with the cost of supporting the families of illegal immigrants.

Moreover, these states also suffer the greatest casualties from gangs, drug trafficking and human trafficking. If it’s this easy for thugs to illegally cross the border undetected how much more is it for terrorists who plan for years their strategies?

We must deal swiftly and resolutely with the border issue for our security and economic survival. However we also need to figure out what to do with those illegal immigrants who have come here just to work and have been here for many years. Many of them have raised families, which adds to the economic burden but must be acknowledged.

The crime of illegally immigrating to the United States must be punished, and it can be done in a humane way using common sense and justice. Here’s my simple idea:

1. If you’ve been here for less than 10 years with no criminal history you get deported with an option to return legally.

2. If you have been convicted of any felony you get deported and refused re-entry permanently.

3. If you’ve been here for longer than 10 years with no criminal history you are given temporary transitional visas under the following guidelines:

You must acquire legal residency within 5 years

You’re wages are garnished for back taxes of $4,000 per year, split evenly between the state and federal government (that would be equivalent to what they would have paid in federal taxes if they earned about $27,000 annually)

Any felony conviction results in immediate deportation with permanently refused re-entry

I’m sure this plan is not perfect, but let’s bring some sanity to this problem and solve it!

I’ve heard people from both political parties allude to the Tea Party as Anarchist. Out of fear for their own jobs or simply out of ignorant bias they conclude that if someone wants to limit the Federal government in any way they must by an Anarchist.

These people are either woefully ignorant, or disingenuous at best. The Tea Party supports the 10 Amendment, “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.” In other words the Federal governments powers and authority are limited to those few and specific things assigned to it.

A simple way to understand this is that your problems and needs should be handled as close to you as possible. You are responsible to provide and protect yourself. In some instances that job will be too big for you. At those times those things should be handled by your family, then your community, then your State, then the Federal government.

Today we’ve turned that on it’s head and look to the Federal government first to fix our problems and provide for us.

The Tea Party is not for Anarchy, it is for each person and entity assuming its proper role and authority.

Expect more bad news until someone enacts a plan to bring deficits under control without raising taxes.

The policies of the Obama administration have led to the weak condition of the American economy. Growth during the coming year will be subpar at best, leaving high or rising levels of unemployment and underemployment.

The drop in GDP growth to just 1.8% in the first quarter of 2011, from 3.1% in the final quarter of last year, understates the extent of the decline. Two-thirds of that 1.8% went into business inventories rather than sales to consumers or other final buyers. This means that final sales growth was at an annual rate of just 0.6% and the actual quarterly increase was just 0.15%—dangerously close to no rise at all. A sustained expansion cannot be built on inventory investment. It takes final sales to induce businesses to hire and to invest.

The picture is even gloomier if we look in more detail. Estimates of monthly GDP indicate that the only growth in the first quarter of 2011 was from February to March. After a temporary rise in March, the economy began sliding again in April, with declines in real wages, in durable-goods orders and manufacturing production, in existing home sales, and in real per-capita disposable incomes. It is not surprising that the index of leading indicators fell in April, only the second decline since it began to rise in the spring of 2009.

Let’s see … should we agree to extend a tax code for just 2 years that is at best difficult for American business and increase the size and scope of Federal spending forever, again! Or … roll up our sleeves and do what the American voters sent us into office last November to do?

Clearly the GOP is on tenuous ground only one month after we kicked out the previous group of ne’er-do-wells. I have only one short message for the Republicans that we just put into office:

You are there by our grace to do our bidding. If you refuse, and use your sacred office as a means for personal gain (like the previous crowd), you too will lose your job and will be replaced with honorable men and women who understand that We The People will not be tread on!

The Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act — signed into law by President Obama on July 21, 2010 — will likely revolutionize the country’s financial system. The sweeping legislation is the most far-reaching financial reform since the Great Depression, touching virtually every corner of the financial world.

The new law is designed to help shield consumers from abusive financial practices, protect taxpayers from funding bailouts for institutions considered “too big to fail,” and improve accountability and transparency in the financial system.

Only a portion of the provisions included in the lengthy act actually became effective when the bill was signed. It will be the job of various regulatory agencies to write the rules that govern the act’s implementation. Consequently, it may be weeks, months, or even years before consumers understand how the changes will work, and even longer before their economic consequences are fully known.

Consumer Protection

The cornerstone of the legislation is the creation of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). The new agency will be under the Federal Reserve but is intended to operate autonomously. Its purpose is to provide the public with information about financial products and to help protect consumers from scams, hidden fees, abusive terms, and deceptive practices.

In theory, by requiring financial products to more clearly define risks, fees, and penalties, consumers may be less likely to become victims of fraud. And when fraud does occur, there will be one point of contact for them to call. Any institution that provides consumer financial products — from credit cards and payday loans to mortgages, auto loans, and other consumer products — will fall under the CFPB’s jurisdiction.

Anticipating Threats

Another new agency, the Financial Stability Oversight Council, is tasked with monitoring sources of systemic risk and creating rules to be implemented by various financial regulators to address those risks. Chaired by the Treasury Secretary and made up of the heads of the most significant federal financial regulators, the council will meet quarterly and will respond to emerging threats to the stability of the U.S. financial system.

There will be a slew of tough new requirements for financial firms, and regulators will have the power to step in and liquidate firms that may be on the brink of failure, eliminating the possibility that the financial burden would be placed on taxpayers.

Investor Protections

Several provisions in the bill will directly affect investors. Companies are now required to provide shareholders with a non-binding vote on executive compensation at shareholder meetings at least once every three years. The act also empowers the SEC to grant shareholders the right to nominate their own directors.

During the economic crisis in 2008, the FDIC raised the insurance cap on savings accounts and CDs to $250,000 (per depositor, per federally insured institution); previously the insurance limit was $100,000. The temporary increase was set to expire after 2013, but the new law makes the $250,000 limit permanent.

In addition to providing the public with financial information and assistance, the law also allows consumers to access their credit scores for free if they receive a negative outcome when applying for a loan or a job.

While supporters say the sweeping legislation will promote competition, critics believe the legislation is deeply flawed and will impede economic growth. They argue that the new law allows too much federal supervision of financial transactions and will do little to prevent another financial crisis.1

Traditionally, mid-term elections tend to attract fewer voters than presidential elections. It’s not clear whether 2010 will be different, but if voter enthusiasm is any guide, this year’s mid-terms could break with the past. A Gallup poll found that a majority of voters in every age group expressed at least some enthusiasm about voting in November (see chart).1

One reason for the enthusiasm could be because there are several key financial issues at stake this year. In some cases, your personal finances could be affected by the election outcome.

Tax Policy

A number of tax laws are set to expire after December 31. As a result, many tax rates are slated to revert to higher levels, especially for investors and high-income earners.

Although Congress could decide to extend the lower rates for some or all taxpayers, the federal government is facing trillions of dollars in mandated spending and a national debt that is growing at an unprecedented rate. Many experts believe the only way Congress will be able to meet these obligations is by raising taxes. Although the election outcome will almost certainly have an effect on near-term tax policy, it’s probably a good idea to expect tax rates to be higher in the future and to look for legal ways to help reduce your tax burden.

Stimulus Spending

Although the $787 billion Recovery Act continues to pump money into the economy, there is little agreement over the effect it has had on economic activity and the high unemployment rate. The White House maintains that the stimulus package is on track to save or create 3.5 million jobs by the end of 2010, but 62% of Americans and 73% of private-sector economists believe the spending has not helped create jobs.2–3 Some officials have warned that when the stimulus spending ends in 2011, there could be layoffs of state and local government workers because some of the money was used to avoid layoffs in 2009 and 2010.4 The debate over the effectiveness of using borrowed money to stimulate the economy could play a pivotal role in the election.

Health-Care Reform

The sweeping changes called for by the health-care legislation passed in March 2010 aren’t set to be fully implemented until 2014. Between now and then, look for health-care reform and its effects on the economy to be an ongoing political issue.

Regardless of your enthusiasm for participating in the upcoming elections, it’s important to consider how the 2010 mid-terms could affect your finances.

The Republicans have come out with their “Pledge to America.” I will take my time and go through this document providing my thoughts to you as I go.

This is important because most conservatives agree that in order to preserve our Republic and the Liberties it ensures, the most efficient option is to take control of the heart of the Republican party … not for the sake of bolstering that political party, but rather to use it as an essential tool to protect and defend our Constitution from all enemies both foreign and domestic.

The introduction to the GOP “Pledge to America” is both insightful and illustrative of the problem in American politics today.

Less than one week after a speech by President Obama in which he quoted The Declaration of Independence but censored it leaving out the reference to our “Creator” the Republicans engage in their own censorship of that founding document.

The Pledge to America interestingly leaves out the fact that we are endowed by our Creator with “certain” unalienable rights; “that among these are …” Our Founders included Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness as three examples of the self-evident rights granted to us by God, not as an exhaustive list.

More telling of our times though is what comes next … “Whenever the agenda of government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the right of the people to institute a new governing agenda and set a different course.” (GOP Pledge to America)

Apparently the Republican Party needs a little history lesson. The Declaration of Independence was not a document suggesting a tweaking of the current political agenda. The document states; “whenever any form of government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new government”

What the Republican Party and the Democratic Party are refusing to acknowledge is that We The People, the citizens of this great nation are fed up with the politics from both sides of the isle!

They have developed what is in essence a two party ruling class, unaccountable and arrogant … IF they continue to "rule" in a manner destructive to our liberties we will "alter or abolish" them and "institute a new government"!

Now, having been admittedly a little nit-picky, for the most part the tone and statements in the introduction are refreshing, and yes, even a bit inspiring. I am encouraged that the Tenth Amendment is highlighted and even by some of the iconic sound-bite statements regarding our founding and core American values.

However, the introduction ends with their call to “invite fellow citizens and patriots to join us in forming a new governing agenda for America.” My warning to the GOP is that as a political party they must be aware of the fact that the Republican party is not America’s saving grace … The Republican party at this point is simply a useful idiot that will either help facilitate liberty for all American citizens or will be swept under the bridge of history as another party that failed to live up to its rhetoric.

The new Limbaugh Doctrine is: Vote for the most conservative candidate on the ticket.

He rightly affirms that we are in a battle to sustain Liberty for Americans against soft tyranny, not a battle between Democrats and Republicans.

Other strategists advise to vote for the most conservative candidate on the ticket “who can win.” That’s just the new version of “plug your nose and vote” or “vote for the lesser of two evils.”

If we’ve learned anything in California it should be that this strategy fails!

In fact I will push Limbaugh’s Doctrine just a bit further. Vote for the most conservative conservative candidate on the ticket regardless of party affiliation.

Take a breath … I know some of you right now are beginning to steam up.

First I think it’s important to identify that the candidate must be “conservative” not simply “the most conservative” otherwise you may still be voting for the lesser of two evils.

Second, I included regardless of party affiliation because your conservative candidate might not be running with an “R” after their name.

Our strategy must serve to accomplish our goal … vote “for” a candidate not “against” one.
